NZLAV-R 36045. Out and about on a typical Waiouru day doing a little track maintenance in support of a drivers course.
The blade is rated to over 100t and can be used somewhat crudely as a bulldozer, but the cut and design is as an earth anchor.
The main which is mounted in the rear where the troops would normally sit (there is absolutely no room in the back). The rope travels through the centre of the vehicle and can be seen exciting the front below the number plate. It carries 200m of synthetic rope with a min breaking strain of 40t. Main winch is rated to 200kN. Above the number plate can be seen the fair lead for the auxiliary winch. This is an 80kN side mounted winch that can be run either to the front or to the rear. Both can be operated from the vehicle or by using a remote control - with a range over just over 300m too!
We carry snatch blocks, chains and shackles as well as compensating bridles and compound ropes and have the ability to do pulls in excess of 5:1 - up around the 100t mark if required. This was tested and proved late last year when we assisted Railways with the recovery of a derailed train - the wagon had no trouble dragging fully loaded grain carriages along the ground - off their rails.
This will have to do for a start - I'll see what else I can dig out and post here. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.
