fj40

Post by coxsy »

this 40 we got needs spacers on the front wheels to clear the discs on the right side the studs are now short coming through the wheel nuts , is there long studs to buy , to fix this or more drastic changes to be done :D

I take it nothing rubbed before and now that you have put a new hub and calliper on the drivers side it now rubs?

Is the rim rubbing on the calliper or is it something else thats rubbing?

Sounds like the new hubs 10mm narrower than the old one? Maybe you need to talk to NMC about all the spare bits hes got and swap the hub over for one that matches the left hand one? Having to put a spacer on only one wheel sounds a bit dodgey? :?

Mine fits OK with 6mm spacers, although there isn't much of the studs through the wheel nuts. You need 7.5 turns on the nuts according to the rules:
http://www.lvvta.org.nz/stdWheels&Tyres.pdf
page 15/16

Or you could go to the bigger spacers that bolt to the hub, and have their own studs to bolt the wheels on. You'd get the advantage of a more stable vehicle, but with the downside of more load on the wheel bearings...

I've found the Toyota guys up here really helpful, different branch I guess. If they dont have something in stock there are always happy to get them in for you too.

Welcome to come get that diff of mine whenever too. Shes been outside for a while now but I've seen worse cond ones for much more on Trademe. Speaking of that this may interest you, FJ40 front diff with Disc's just need one of the guys on here to bring it up for you:
