Ok well have managed to chew through yet another alternator on my pajero (dumpest place in the world at the bottom of engine ) had it tested and it well stuffed, will costmore to rebuild it than bying a new one.
what i want to know is has any one figured out a way of limiting the water/mud from getting into the alternator or has any one moved the alternator?if so how and where to?

I screwed mine rather bad and have just had it rebuilt (costed A LOT but felt like giving someone some money). He said that he can mod it so that it is at the top of the bay rather then at the bottom. I'll enquire more about it, get it done in a few weeks when I have some spare cash again and let you know it was done and difficulty level if interested
yeah i priced it up for repairs, just bout cheaper to get new one.yeah that swould be good if you could investagate it and let me no
