having trouble with springs sagging, don`t want to make them to stiff but only got about 2000kms out of last set, has anybody tried a coil spring under the last stages of the leaf ???? as i said the soft ride is good, but the spring sag does nothing for the ground clearance. looking for some ideas
What about lifting it but leaving the soft springs? I guess that would mean a body lift or extended shackles and neither probably really properly achieve what you are after.
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.
what kind of springs are you running? Good quality springs make a world of difference. Problems with most of the lift springs out there is they increase the arch but not the length so you end up with a really bad shackle angle, which gives a generally crappy ride. You may like to check out the ones jafa sells. Being trail gear id imagine them to be pretty good quality and very likely to be that little bit longer that you need
have ome springs were new ,also new shocks to suit, have a crawler box and get some good angles, this is a common zuk problem someone must have an idea
Well springs shouldnt sag after only 2000 km...they must of been faulty. Go along to Bellamy & East & have a word to them & see what they think...they can probably reset your old springs
Get some 2" lift springs, some stock springs and play around with the packs (number /type /position) until you get the ride height / flex you are looking for. Then cut the guards for clearance.
Just remember not to mix up left and right packs.
You can also use Mazda 323 rear springs (mid 80's i think) to mix with the Zuk spring packs. Use zuk leaves from rear in front etc. etc. There is a thread on Outers somewhere about doing this.
