8th and 9th of Nov

Post by Jerry »

my turn to start this week.....

digger guy is back doing some more clearing for my new garage, have pulled the lexpos out of the other garage and and have the dash apart tracing wires, and sorting them out. have pulled out the old locker loom (which looks like trailer wiring), got a nice new arb compressor and loom and switches to go in.

On f&^*$%# call again so not able to drive anywhere in my own truck (have to use the work van for going anywhere) so spent the weekend tinkering with the Paj, installed a set of wanker lights and replaced the main lights with 90/100's as the night time visablity of these things sux with the crappy 50/55 Tokoyo lights

took the 60w spottie off the fez and wired it into the reverse lights as again the reverse lights on the Paj are crap.

also discovered that the wastegate spring on the turbo was streched allowing all the boost to dribble down the exhuast, adjusted the arm and added 1mm washers under the bracket to put a little more tention on the spring ... fark what a differance the Paj has gone from a slug to a snail now  at least you *can* feel a bit of pull between 2400-3000 now. just need to change the fuel filter as theres still a bit of a "flat spot" when you use more than 3/4 of the loud pedel

As far as i know, no-one has been up there for years. dixie and I went for a nosy to check out the track condition about 2 1/2 years ago and the first hole had been sabotaged. The "residents" at the end of the road were not welcoming to interlopers. additionally there had been past experiences of tow vehicles with smashed windscreens and headlights waiting for the owners when they returned.

I believe that Moriarty and DB had some maps and sat pics (it was a while ago.....) of the road and the boundaries. there was some talk of heading up there and having a crack at it again, but the idea kinda died.

Used to hunt in there. Lived out the back of Maungamuka, at Otangaroa (between Maungamuka and Kaeo, Turn off SH1 at the Maungamuka Marae)
I see the Takahue Saddle is still listed as a 4wd track too, but locals at Broadwood told me its been closed for ages due to a slip, dont suppose youve been there for a nosy? Used to drove cattle over the saddle, many moons ago.
