have decided to try and make a start on my next project so am on the lookout for a lj71 prado swb (prefer 90 on ) blown motor is fine as running gear will be ditched.if any one has one or knows of one for sale at a reasonable (hint cheap) price give me a shout cheers sig

If it is a SWB that you are after you may want to change your thread title as the shorties are known as LJ 71's or KZJ 71"s Mine is the latter.
Am not totally sure but i think I am correct in saying the CV joints are stronger in the later vehicles, possibly the axles too.

my 40 is a wicked toy (owned it for 18 years and have probably spent almost as much as fj40 pete has on his ,started to add up how much ive spent on the motor over the years and stopped counting when it got to 16k and i do all my own assembly and engineering so no labour on that ) but have big arguments when i want to take it out as all 3 of my kids want to go and the wife as well .bit hard in a two seater .plus am keen to have a wagon i can drive somewhere ,play hard then drive home , not trailer or tow.have got a pair of 60 diffs plus some 80 front hub ends plus a h55 five speed and transfer sitting in the corner (and a couple of chevys in parts) so running gear is sorted just need something to put it all in
