I could be keen. What about shoot up the Ashley track, hit the river bed and head into the Okuku confluence, jump out at the bridge, head over to Amberley and head to Stringers bridge, jump into the Waipara and head downstream to the ocean. Could be a good full day. I was thinking of running this on Sunday but you beat me to it. Would have to be on the Ashley track by 1000 hrs at the lastest.

Haven't done Ashley since before all the rain so not sure there. Waipara has changed but an all new river trip in my opinion. Snorkels would be advisable.

hmmm sounds interesting..... i would be keen dont know if my truck would be able to do all that on one tank though hah, i was up at ashley river after the floods, you cant get right up it now, unless you have winches, to winch each other through one part then you could. Waipara, i did it myself last weekend, cause no one turned up, its soft as he** hah i was sinking hoping to hel* i didnt get stuck, but yeah i understand why theres alot of politcal stuff gonig on aobut damage. Could easily see if 20trucks went through there at the same time you could start a new river hah, but i may been keen anyways, where would you meet, at ashley?? theres kind of a park on your right before you cross the ashley, thats where i meet last trip??

When you come from the Okuku you could cut up Marshmans road, to the Kowhai ford, head down the Kowhai to either the Balcain road (most direct for you) or even to HWY 1 before proceeding to Amberley.

I'd be interested to join but still have my truck waiting for parts of the disk brakes.

since the trip will be done in sections it should be easy enough to leave at roughly a time that suits you, but as dean says anything could happen and usually does when he's involved

hah yeah, i just dont want to head over to the west coast to late thats all, the road over there is full of frikn tourists that drive on the wrong side of the road around this time of the year, its quite dangerous.... but yeah ill have a think about it, i may come, but will leave if it goes on to late

That was my plan. Nick, if you head over to the coast from Amberley via Reefton you will find it is actually quicker then going through Arthurs, I do this all the time. As for the tourists, just buy a safari, put heaps of steel around it with big tyres and they get out of the way real fast, just ask the japeer that tried to road rage me the other day as he pulled out in fron of my pig

What time did you guys finish at the Okuku and head on up further north? I reckon I heard a bunch of noisey tyres go past here at about 12:10 so figure you came out of the Okuku at about 12 midday if it was indeed you. Didn't see anything as I was inside but heard it and my father came and said he reckoned it was a bunch of 4x4s - about 4-6 at my guess.

Was a good day out....No major problems...but a few trucks did have some minor breakages....i tore off 1 & damaged another flare & a small dent in front guard.
