GEW10000LB Runva Winch

Post by kiwipete »

Hi all, I now, after much emailing and googling, have secured a full 20 page manual for the above mentioned winch; from china! No such luck or replies from the NZ agent. :(
This has all part numbers and exploded views etc of the disassembled unit.

If anyone wants a copy I have it in PDF format and can email it to you.

Just send me and email if you want a copy.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

No probs, just wish the NZ agent was as helpful.

I am going to strip my one after Xmas cos it has water in the gearing side.
Does anyone know what grease I should use to re-grease it?

BTW i haven't read the manual yet.

Cheers guys.

Have any of you had any dealings with the NZ agent for these winches. I personally have had no luck at all with emailing him, but I must say the responses I have had from Runva in China are fantastic. (although sometimes their spelling leaves a little to be desired, "I am sorry because it's difficult to spell. Do you know the bisulfide with cuprum.") :?
They are even going to send me some free grease! not that I need it.
I will be pulling mine apart in Jan/Feb sometime to re grease it and see if there is any way to stop water ingress.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

I bought my winch of Michael in Auckand (via trademe) under warranty he replaced the solinoid box (twice but it was only broken then first time, the second time the motor had packed up) and the motor once, no questions asked, he was good to deal with.

Micheal has been good to deal with, he has sent me two motors and a gearbox, and today he sent me a whole new winch (EWX12000 to replace my GEW10000).

You need to email him first thing on a monday morning, and you usually get a reply from him by wednesday, i don't think selling Runva winches is his day job, its something he does on the side??

As for water ingress, i havn't found a way to stop it. Just strip it down every couple of months, or after a deep river crossing/trip. I just coat everything in water proof grease, make sure you don't get any on the brake system though!!!!

Make the winch easy to take off when you are working out how to mount it.

Mines as stiff as a board to rotate so I think its time to pull it apart and re grease it. Need to build my workbench first tho.

It is easy enough to rotate to get a better position too, just unscrew all those screws at the side and rotate to the desired position then replace the screws.
