By the looks of that photo I'd better get a cover for the grill, took over an hour to clean the radiator after the Lake Daniells trip last week
Was Bill's Easter trip, now Al and Tim's Central Trip

Been thinking of the convoy down. Me personally I wouldn't mind leaving at 4am so the kids can sleep
, but thought you boys might want to meet at the Rolleston BP for a 8am departure
. That way we get to Ettrick about 2pm, time to set up the 4wd city for the week, and drink beer/chill. any thoughts? Numbers please?

I dont even set my alarm for 8am on work days. We might leave a bit later as have no tents to set up etc. but then again we could sit around having a few beers watching you guys work. Should be quite entertaining
Think ill put the surf in for some more repairs so I can bring a trailer down with tyres on it. If I do this anyone else want theirs brought down? Tim?

We will probably leave about 10.00am and cruise down quietly to arrive in sufficient daylight to put up the tent. For the peeps I haven't met, my truck is mainly black GQ, with all the corners knocked off with rego 4X4ROB.
Regards...Robbie
For those that want to leave from Rolleston BP at 0800, so far we have myself, Tim and Rob. For those that are thinking of travelling in convoy with us, we will have children on board (read babies & infants) that will require the more frequent schedule of stops for the wife to change shitty nappies and feed them. Still haven't trained her to do on the move yet
.

And at this stage we will be leaving Friday morning - still working on getting the Thursday off.
I guess I'd better get recovery points sorted on the MU huh? I expect I'll be pulling U571 out from time to time?
I think it has a half-torn-off factory hook mount in the rear that I can brace up and reco, and should have the winch and a hook sorted for the front in the next week...
What day is the pack-down planned for? I'm heading to Naseby for a couple of days afterwards for some more 4WDing and family time which should be good.

Probably the sat or sun, but most likely the sunday. Depends on how scared that some of these handbrakes get. Mine won't be coming all the time. My plan is to drive down whitcombe get to the bottom, turn round and drive back up, sounds pointless, but that drive up will get ya heart racing, so the drive down will give those that haven't down some time to know it before the serious shit starts.

if you guys are keen i could show you a few tracks for a bit of fun. there is a good one in the bush goes about 200m but could take an hour. depending on how wet it is. there is a couple more that will get the adrenalin goin. all safe as. IF ITS TOO WET YOU WILL NEED CHAINS. especially on the rock staircase have heard of 3 vehichles tip over since christmas 2 were hiluxes that got tired and had to have a lie down and 1 was a toyota prado all the way from nelson. the trick is to drive in the rut there is a bit of loose rock in the rut and you get more traction, the guys that tipped their trucks were trying to sidle the bank and they tipped over, although 1 was coming down just going too fast and over it went.
ah well boys not too far away now, picking up my snorkel on thursday, tow bar and hooks going on next monday. have put some Air con mesh around the radiator to try and stop the mud see how well it works.
tyres will go on this weekend and start to pack things..
what are you guys doing for food, u making things on the nights or going to the local pub for tea ??
any need to bring a jery can ?

Planning pub meal one night, communial BBQ Saturday night, own food can be cooked in the large kitchen that is attached to the bunkroom you are staying in Adam.

Do those V6's use that much gas
just kidding, it may be a good idea to carry 10-20L spare, but we are doing day trips all weekend so fuel shouldn't be too much of a problem
