Hey Guys have a quick question - My surf (92 V6) after some river crossings a couple of weeks blew the fuse for the headlights and the indicators and the dash lights. These are the fuses in the box next to the accelrator.
I replaced the fuses and the headlights now go but the right hand side indicators are really faint and the dash lights fuse keeps blowing every time i turn the lights on.
I never got water in the truck and the water level would have been lucky to be over bumper height so i dont know what the problem is - anyone have any ideas to help me out?

youve prolly got some current leaking to the chassis through some water stuck in the works someplace this would explain why your lights come on dimly and you blow fuses cos the water stuck in there creates a parallel path to the negative and a high current 'slow blow' fault, not a dead short.
best bet is to stick it in the garage, open the windows just a crack and stick a fan heater in there all day - do it sensibly so you dont set fire to your truck by putting the heater on a nice bit of metal or timber on the floor dont just stick it on the seat.
If all else fails get your self a multimeter from dick smith that has a low ohms range and start fault finding all contacts on that circuit to the chassis looking for a low reading, you will have to disconnect parts of the circuit to do this so if your'e not confident doing that get someone electrically minded to do it with you or take it to an auto sparky...

Cheers Guys ended up taking it to an auto sparky who found that it was the trailer plug coupling shorting out and causing all the problems. Cost $48 to fix including all the bulbs and fuses that were gone so not to big a deal in the end!!
Got the old girl in having the exhaust modified from where the drivers side exhaust loops behind the engine and firewall into the passenger side pig tail. Will get a separate pig tail made up and a Y join put in the original pipe. Will hopefully remove some back pressure and get better performance and fuel economy!!

Hey pene. Yeah the old girl is chugin alongstill. just spent $800 for a warrant, had to do the steering joints and ball joints. This was 2 days after putting a reco'd starter in at $300. But hey its done 250K and hauled ass with a 2.5 tonne trailer most of the summerso it was expected. Glad to hear you got the leccy prob fixed. Happy 4wding, may catch up if im down your way
