So what size cell should I look at for trialing my vitara? I figure a 20 litre should suffice but would a 30 be better? also is the upright version better than the flat version? Sorry if I asked this before but I have lost my notes (wife cleaned up the rubbish I had laying asround in a neat pile).
Who is a good place to source said cells from?
fuel cells

It all depends on what your going be doing & how far you want to drive on a tank....20 litres wont get you far.
Re: fuel cells
depends on if you want to do club trips or not? 20l would be plenty for a day of trialling. Somebody told me someone had done a test and the amount of time the vehicle was running the whole day was 30 minutes or something. You can always take spare fuel and fill up at lunchtime
Re: fuel cells
I figure if I use a smaller 20 litre cell then I can carry more fuel and have room for a spare tyre also for club runs.

Re: fuel cells
gosh turoa, your wrong, the guy put a video camera in his trials truck and started it everytime he started a obstical and finished it when he drove out the pegs and it came up as 23 minutes of actual trials time, the rest of the time was talking and discusing and crusing around. allot of people have ultra small tanks fill up at lunch time always. but i have a 50L and that just scrapes in for a descent club trip (allot of the time is missing when i drive it on to the trailer)

Havingto carry extra fuel in a can defeats the idea of having a fuel cell....just buy a bigger one ......way safer
Re: fuel cells
For a days trialling I may not need a bigger one but on the off chance I attend a day out with a club I just put a fuel can in the back, but I do know where you are coming from. Thats why i asked what size is best. The smaller the cell the less likely it is to be dry around the intake for the pump when on sidlings etc but the bigger means more endurance. I guess if I get really serious about endurance (maybe have a go at this off road racing lark) I'll just fit a second cell beside the first.

Re: fuel cells
I'm running a 40 litre, the cells themselves are cheapish (got my form TC) the fittings can cost a bloody fortune. Wellington Last year all 30 hazards and driving to and from the truck both sessions and lunchtime I did a total of 5 km
Re: fuel cells
I'm thinking a 20 litre will suffice and if I leave enough room I could always get another 20 or bigger and run it beside it for long distance stuff (way in the future that is - I have a idea/plan)
