Alloy rim protective coatings.

Post by 3rnzir »

Got steel rims myself. But have read on this & other forums about the hi upkeep issues regards keeping alloys clean.Staining etc. This got me thinking about a couple of products used in the marine industry. One product is called Silon.A clear 2 pot mix used on alloy and class boats.Impervious to solvents, oils, salt, bird poop, blood etc.The other brand is Nylac.Has similar properties.Would products like these be a worthwhile option on new alloy rims?

im not saying the ok but just remember alloy rims have a varnish type laquer applied for protection and using harsh chemicals will prob remove this coating which will excelerate the corriosion on the rim and make it all flakey

just a thought........ this may not apply to all but a vast percentage of rims out there
