6th & 7th Dec

Post by Jerry »

Suprised no-one has started this thread up yet this weekend :D

Anyhew....

Pulled finger and fitted the snorkel, was a bit of messing round to fit it with the guard still attached, the bolt holes were already there too. removed the factory airbox and fitted the new inline filter as well. just need a little bit of pipe to finish it off. put a snorkel sock in the snorkel as well....

Jerry
I doubt very much that your bling piece of carbon filter housing will flow enough air for a 1 UZi.
With this small filter you will strangle the engine massively reducing both power and torque.
Have seen many results on Dynapac dynos where larger filters and pipework make huge gains.

What you have done is the opposite. Yes it may have a flash filter like a K & N inside it, BUT airflow dynamics are such that Volume and Area are what is required. 1UZi's make about 250bhp on the ground in 2wd vehicles, that comes about via intake airflow amoungst other things. The factory airbox off a late model 4.5 V8 cruiser or a 200 series will give you the correct sizing.
Sorry to be spoiling your bling bling but at the end of the day output is what counts right?

Whole idea was to get more airflow in the enging bay to help cooling.... theres no room to swing a cat under there as it is

Did the Cruiser Club trip with the Beer_Cruisers into the aka's today, only 3 trucks, we did the Roller Coaster and then a few side tracks on the way back, broke the winch in the front truck so we had to do all the winching from the back through a few snatch blocks to get past the trucks

Killed my radiator in a deep stinking bog on the way back :? so it was a slow trip back to the Beer Cruisers place to do a bit of waterblasting to get me home.... cheers for that Guys :D

Popped 30mm more into the rear earlier this week, put the front spacers back in later in the week. Fitted some hd rear coils to a pajero this morning, and hopefully tomorrow will stitch up my rear trackbar bracket and stitch a gusset onto my rear trackbar to stop it bending any further.

Gee i love my new shed.

Sold the Feroza Yesterday, A Lady from Auckland spotted it on the interweb thingie, drove up, took it for a drive .. came back and handed me the cash! .. im picking she liked it. :D Anyhoo Im wandering around feeling like ive lost my right nut today .. miss the stupid little thing already :?

Come to the conclusion i really dont Like Pajero's much .. they do absolutly nothing for me .. i seem to have no motorvation at all to go out and "tinker" with it, so after the christmas break i will prob flick it on, (anyone after a solid old Gen I Pajero with rear LSD? )

With the money from the Fez and Paj, plus raiding the piggy bank i should have around 8K to spend on a new truck, havnt a clue what i will get, not a big fan of Saf's (Sorry guys) but the new one has to be a 4 door with plenty of legroom in the back for my two boys that wont stop growing.

pity I didnt quite have enough for a toyota d/cab ute. that would be perfect

If you want leg room in the back I wouldn't be going after a double cab hilux.

well finished fixing rust on the boat trailer then went on to changeing all the diff and transfer case oils on the zuke. in the pic below the left is the rear diff the middle is the front and the right is the transfer case oil. i have not changed the oils since i bought the truck which was proberly about a year ago. but the transfer case was done like 6 months ago.quite different colours i was amazed that there was no water in them as the week before i had been threw heeps of water over the tops of the wheel and i have no breathers.

From my experience I'd say at least that middle brew has water in it.
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.

You need to make up one of those bracket thingees that have a collar over the diff and bolts to the crossmember (will add pic when I find one).

The more creamy it looks the more water in it, until it turns into a creamy light brown sludgy whipped cream goo.

Here's a link to pics. though not the one I was looking for. The collar protects the weak mounting point (the two holes) but not the rest by the looks of it. Should give an idea though. I'll keep looking.
