Re: O.M.E GEAR
Auckland 4x4 in Papakura is the closest OME agent to you. arbinfo@ihug.co.nz is their email or www.autoelec.co.nz is their website.

Re: O.M.E GEAR
OME gear is made for desert touring in the Aussie outback, not the stuff we deal with in NZ. You will be bitterly dissappointed with it if you fit it. Springs sag, shocks stuff out.

My OME sagged 25mm within 2 months (really not happy and heaps of other are saying the same thing) I've had to put 2 xtra springs in to bring it back up

Must be a leaf spring thing cause the coils & shocks I put in back in June on the front of my LandRover 110 haven't sagged one bit and it is now carrying a 9000lb ramsey winch on there now installed since then. Shocks are still as good as the day they were in also. I've also done OME coils and shocks on the rear and its is a fine combination. I drive a lot of river bed work over boulders etc with firewood and not a problem with them.

O M E leaves are now made in Thailand. That's the main reason I went with EFS on my Hilux, still Aussie made

I wonder why they have always done so well in the US then? Perhaps you had a bad batch?
I am running OME shocks and springs and no problems at all so far. Whatever sagging is there is because of the weight and age of the suspension, still work extremely well in terms of flexing and road performance (equally).

Re: O.M.E GEAR
good to get everyones feedback, still unsure of what to do with my suspension, definately dont wana folk out the coin for something thats not going to last... then some say o.m.e is the go, some say that are shite... contimplateing doing some digging around at wreckers to find another spring off another different vehicle all together that will bolt straight in and give a bita lift, ive seen someone used mazda b2000 springs, maybe do a bita mix n matching, then fit rears up front

Well I've been using OME suspension in comptetions since 2005. FOR THE SAME MONEY they are almost impossible to beat. The only other brand that is comparable is EFS. There are much better shocks out there but you will pay a lot more for them.
As for being dissapointed with them, it will depend what you are comparing to. Bilstein, Koni, Fox etc will perform better and last longer so compared to them you will be dissapointed, but they all cost at least twice the price.
And the guys that run EFS carry spares for when they stuff the seals but the guys using OME don't need to.
This is my experience from racing against guys using this gear in real NZ conditions.
But if you want the best their is always Rancho. After all any made in the US must be the best quality, the success of their economy proves that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: O.M.E GEAR
IM running O.M.E coils and shock in my Surf.
Very happy with the performance. 40k on them with no noticeable change in performance. Still drives better than my mates Surf on new Rancho's.
Coils have sagged a little but I went with the softer spring rate to get better flex.
My mate is running O.M.E leafs and shocks on his SJ410.
Truck had been sitting for about 3 years and we were quite depressed at how much the leafs had sagged.
However after one trip out the leafs had re-set them selves and the truck is still still sitting up were it should.
The shocks however were well to short for the application. As soon as the sways bars came out we maxed out there travel.
Its my understanding the O.M.E gear is setup as packages ,normally to accommodate only a 2 inch lift and is designed around driving comfort and not off road ability / flex / etc.

Re: O.M.E GEAR
i had some old retensioned springs on my FJ40 which gave it a nice 3" lift - until i went offroad over christmas and the front ones went completely flat - and stuffed the shocks. guy at the garage said he'd never see any go so flat without broken leaves!! have put in OME dakar springs on the front and OME shocks all round. road handling is much improved. off road and how they hold up is yet to see. that said, i lived in africa for a while, and OME were the dogs testicles. mostly light off road / bush tracks in a discovery, but they improved handling no end. my 2c. talk to marcel at motortech4x4 in glenfield - they did a good job for me.
Re: O.M.E GEAR
OME for me to, been running it for about 5 years and havn't had a single problem, can't be beat for the price.
Re: O.M.E GEAR
anybody know the thickness of the o.m.e leafs?
