POWER STEERING ISSUES

Post by WACKO »

vehicle is my pajero. ive done a SAS to it and used a prado power steering box. ive also installed a evo4 power steer fluid cooler as i had to remove the cooler tube that was previously in it. cooler is on the low pressure pipe.

now the problem is this... the steering violently goes from lock to lock by its self. so violetly when trying to stop it, it dam near bent my fingers off. goes from one side then snaps back the other way. also after only not even a minute the pump is almost too hot to touch and the lines are very warm to the feel, but this may be due to me slowing the spinning of the steering wheel to see if it is just doing it while circulating the oil or somtheing.
it also seems to be leaking slightly from the hight pressure line.
im guessing its not normal, so have i hooked something up backwards/wrong? does it just need a blead from somewhere? what am i missing?

cheers, Sam

does it go lock to lock when your stationary by itself ? thats some wierd shit right there!!!

if its when your driving i would sugest you have your steering geometry a bit out and need to set your castor better, you probably have your diff rotated too far forward... but im only guessing
If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!

you got the high and low pressure lines around the wrong way? sounds like its trying to push fluid in the out way?

with the way the paj is set up its only cost me bout $20 a time, so not too expensive. and today they redid the leaking fittings for free. and all fixed!!!! no leaks, and no crazy steering wheel!
