We made it back to Hamilton at about 11:30pm.
List of Carnage:
Friday night - Big Al's trailer broke, couple of hours spent boggying it up to make it mobileish, unloaded zook and drove it the rest of the way. Took 5 hours to get to the HQ from Hamilton.
Saturday - Gimmimud"s brand new clutch playing up, clutch line to close to cyclinder head, kept vapour locking and loosing all drive. Big Al's Zook broke the steering box, and lost all the brakes. Bill's Vit with smash Diff crossmember and diff mounts. Lots of shagging around getting these trucks mobile and out of the bush. Yorick lost a front wheel driving out. NZ-Hunter blew a radiator hose on his way out.
Sunday - Gimmemuds clutch was still acting up, although it was slipping now rather than vapour locking. Big Al had a new steering box, and working rear brakes, no fronts. Scott rolled his surf trying to follow me in the guts and smashed his hand to pieces. Managed to co-ordinate rescue effort to get him to Waikato hospital for an X=ray.
Damaged trailer loaded onto Bill's truck and taken to Tokoroa and bodgyed up at Yoricks place. Gimmimuds wheels loaded onto trailer. Big Al's Zook driven back to Hamilton and stored untill a trailer can be sourced to get it the rest of the way back to Auck's.
Me and UBZ had no drama what so ever
Pretty sure everyone had a blast, and there's a few people,
including myself who are feeling a whole lot more clued up on just how important it is to clean your truck properly, check it over before a trip and do some preventative maintenance before it breaks out in the middle of no where
A huge thanks to Scott and Bill for going above and beyond the call of duty to travel back to Tauramnui to get parts to fix Al's truck, getting it mobile again for him, and then transporting his broken trailer to Tokoroa for repairs.
You guys ROCKThe new tracks up there are awesome, and will only get better, especially with a shower of rain or four!!!! Looking forward to next time!!!
