What a day, firstly cheers to all that was there and showed us around, was my first proper days outing in a convoy.
It was all alot wetter than everyone thought, spent over 2 hours just on 1 hill winching up the 8 or so trucks that were with us, once i got my tyre pressure sorted i was stoked as with how me old surf went, every other truck was a 2 door swb, mine was the only hilux, was getting through bogs and up steep banks that a couple other more well equipper (lockers etc) couldnt do, not saying mine is any better than any others, but when we first turned up to meet, i looked around, and i was the only hilux, had the smallest engine (3y) and i wasnt likeing my chances, good ol trusty 3y didnt miss a beat, l.s.d worked a dream and only a minor ding to the right rear corner. Good day out guys, havent yet worked out how to upoad photos, but maybe coxsy will put a few up

That toilet looks a bit nicer than last week's one   Was an awesome place to stay and a great position to the tracks. They gonna be doing anything with that nasty gravel road?

Went for a drive down the river this evening.

Nice to be back in the cruiser after having it off the road for about 2 months. Had another guy with me who normally drives a kitted out Suzuki. He had a drive of the cruiser and reckons it's like a huge truck, (told him he needs his HT) he said it feels like it will just plough on through and make its own tracks (which we did). But his zuk is pretty capable tho.
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.

we would love to do some thing with it as is a slow last 10 ks an d every thing feels like its going to rattle off  ,the more it gets used the more we can approach DOC for help to do some thing with it , was mentioned on weekend that we could put some ap20 gravel on it which would make smoother and lock all the rocks together , but the cost is a bit beyond us at the moment as we are a club of 20 or 21 members, what we will do is have a visiters book at the shelter and if every one who goes out there that thinks the road is a bit rough makes a comment it gives us some feed back to show DOC that people are using the place and what we can do to make it better, it is still early days for the place and is only going to get better, remember it is there for everyone so get out there and use it :D .
