I have a 12volt Outback I think. Got it at a price I couldn't really ignore on one of their sales.

Had two actually, one crapped out at the hose tip that fits the tyre valve - pissed me at the time as was one tyre short of fully inflated on a river flat... SC swapped it for a new compressor no questions after looking at it and then breaking one of their own while they were looking at a new one to see what it looked like.

All I can say is as far as blowing air, they work, but watch for sh*t fittings and other bits that could break easy - i.e. the plastic and 'muck' metal bits.

If I did it all over again, I'd go the ARB way and buy slightly more obvious quality. I don't air-down often but when I do I'd like to think I could realiably air-up again - with the SC compressor its all a bit of a lottery really.

4WDBits do a reasonable quality one for about $120ish.

http://www.4wdbits.co.nz/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=573

I have used my one for the last couple of years to air up my 35's and it seams to handle it.

Yep, their twin-piston one is on sale at the moment for $129 I think... nice price.

They are ok, i have one.

Just buy it, use it and abuse it, just file your reciept away carefully so you can get a new one as soon as it starts to get worn

I went through three typhons from 4wd bits, each one only lasting 15-20 minutes and seized up. Got a bush ranger max air, expensive but does the business with ease. Keep the reciept for cheapies, you will need it!! :P

repco hand the bush ranger max air at quite a good price several months ago(under $250ish with trade discount)you do have to ask them about it not a normal product.

My friend had a bush ranger one and on 35's would do 4 tyres at the same speed as my $129 twin piston job wold do 3 :(
and would only be half as hot.He payed 3 times the price so not really a far comparision.
If you had 31" tyres the $129 job would be fine as its only running for half the time as 35's.

I find the last tyre is quite a bit slower also,I guess cause its getting so dam hot...

My 129$ twin pot compressor shat itself on my last trip out.
Stopped pumping fast and when i turned it off it wouldn't start again. Still have to strip it down
have had almost 2 years of hard service , so i feel i got my moneys worth. Seemed ok pumping up 33's but will be looking for something a little faster next time.

bought a bush ranger maxair for $150 bucks brand new from repco they had to order it in for me from another store, comes with 5 year warranty, 72ltr per minute 150 psi and works bloody well on my 33's. the normal price was well over $300 its been replaced by the max air 2 so if anyone needs one get to repco and get them to order you one in while they still have a few. that puts it at the same price as cheapo chinese product. :D :D

Bought an "Outback Devil" from Supercheap a year ago. Have had no problems with it at all, and have it bolted down behind my seat, feeding into a 16 litre tank behind the passengers seat through a pressure cutout switch. Paid $149.95 & specs are;
All metal body
DC 12v
Max current-30 amp
Max Pressure-150PSI
Air flow-72 litres per minute
2.4 metres heavy duty lead with battery clips
6 metre coiled air hose
Storage bag
Sports adapters.

Works very well.
92 swb Pajero ute. 3 litre V6 manual. 33" Mud wranglers, Diff breathers, Snorkle, 9500lbs electric winch, Rear diff lock, CB & PRS radio's.

Quadracer showed me a nice performance advantage that he has done for his in-cab mounted compressor, the other night.
He has monted a computer cooling fan directly above the finned alloy casing of the pump. He reckons that it pumps tyres up quite a bit quicker as it stays cool now.

I've got one of the older unbranded bigger supercheap compressors and its seem to have lasted, its not been treated that nice either, and it will happily put a 33" tah back on its bead. for the $125 I paid for it its good value. when it dies I'll just go out and buy another cheap one, plan is for onboard air but a backup is always handy (especially if the truck in front is stuck blocking the path and you can't get your onboard air there).
