Can I take off the pinion flange
Can I take off the pinion flange
Can I take off the pinion flange of my hilux diffs without taking the diff apart? It needs to be redrilled for the land rover driveshaft
;-p
hope so
, ive done it several times with out loosing the pinion into the diff yet
it will slide back a little way then stop as the pinion has a big taperd head as you well know.the pinion bearing catches the shaft before it can piss off totally. but thats just what ive experienced.i may have just been lucky....several times
and i have to do it again soon to the front
thats assuming the hilux head is the same as a cruiser one....ish

If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
This going on the road? You need to have some sort of adaptor between the two to centre the shaft on the flange. even if its a small ring that slips inside the 'hole' in the hilux one for the 'bump' on the landy d-shaft to fit into (if thae landy bump is small enough to fit inside the hilux flange), or have the landy flange bump machined down, or just make an adaptor like I did for mine:
