This will come around faster that we all think, done it last year and it was great,
all those wanting to do the harder trips, need to know this area is HARD on brakes, i
would reccommend new rear shoes if you don`t have discs, also good protection for the lower half
of your radaitor, most get a vinyl cover made, there are many rocks so good under body protection.
for any info about the area PM nuts as this is his backyard, and a bloody helpful chap.
look forward to seeing you all there, but lets be ready as its no fun work on trucks in the mud :)

are there any requirements

Rated tow hooks, your own rated recovery gear, first aid kit and I imagine Mt's and snorkel will be required. You will need to clarify this PR.
Looking at coming over myself.

are there any requirements ie. club membership ect?

No you dont have to be a member of a club

are there any requirements

Rated tow hooks, your own rated recovery gear ( snatch straps, shakles, spade and if you have a winch tree trunk proctector, cable dampner or sack and winch block), first aid kit and I imagine Mt's and snorkel will be required.

All truck will be checked before the trip

sounds good. only thing of question is rated tow hooks? i have est 1/2" round steel hoops full welded to my front & rear bars which i've snapped 9500kg snatch straps with in the past, will these pass as rated tow hooks?

To be honest, I wouldnt tow off that. The idea with rated tow hooks is that nothing snaps they only straighten out if over strained. But as im not the trip leader, its not my call.

Why not bolt on some RATED tow hooks and maybe have them as a back up?

Last year this was run as an ORE ass. trip and I see a number of KIWI 4x4 members going so . I dont know whether it is an official or unoffical club trip.

But if it is a proper KIWI 4x4 trip it will have to have rated hooks according to the 2nd rule of the club.

I personally would not go on any trip with hooks like that because of collective responsibility.

Cheers Richard

from a welders point of view that can hold up to 6 ton strain, nice bit of work , but in this pc world hooks give peace of mind :D

you're right it won't be easy as bullbar uses/blocks the normal mount points so i'll have to mount them up under truck off the side of chassis which will make them hard/impossible to use if boged in mud. but if i have to have them i have to have them.

If you tow off the bullbar now you can mount the hooks to the bar with rated bolts, there is more leverage towing on the bullbar but if they have taken the strain previously then they should be fine.

you only need one hook front and one rear, as a quick fix if you have a towbar you can unbolt the toungue and bolt another on with a hook in it :) The rated hooks are almost required now if you are going onto any farmor private property unless you want to be liable for any accident on the farm (commercial property).

Silly thing a badly fitted towhook that fails is fine to OSH and ACC but an unrated not randomly tested hook it is your responsibility to test 12 of them to prove the rating, this is why all tie down points are removed from trucks when they come in.

I'm in!
About time I got the 40 dirty again.
So long as I don't roll it. Well if it rolls, I'd like it to roll on the other side I rolled it last. That might straighten it up a little.
Might try and talk my bro into coming as well.

Good on ya Paul for organizing it.

Ok so far the possilbles we have are=
Me
Nuts
Coxsy
Ged
Albundy
Jerry
Niblik
Chopper01
Choppy
Hosehustler
Quadracer
1Rugger
Steve_t647
Mercutio
Philux
Petefj40
Petefj40 brother
Baldy
Wilson
4x4Rick

So I will talk to Nuts but I think we will divide into smaller groups as 20 is to much for one group and there will still be others that want to come so 3 groups of 10 at this stage and if we need a 4th then we could deal with that when we get there
