Anyone run Iridium spark plugs?

Garage talk. Anything from mounting a winch to water proofing the electrics.

Anyone run Iridium spark plugs?

Post by rowinz »

Does anyone run Iridium plugs? Do you get better performance from these? Are they grossly expensive?
I am looking at fine tuning my LPG dedicated 3F cruiser and these would seem to be the go, but not too keen to spend $$ unless it will have some benefit...

I run Iridium plugs in my Disco. Didn't buy them, they were fitted when I bought the vehicle three years and 50000km ago. Every once in a while (once a year maybe) I pull them out and have a look at them only to put them back in without having to touch or clean them. From that point of view, they seem to be worth it. I have never had plugs that didn't require a bit of a scrub or resetting before.

apparently there supposed to give a higher spark output and ive found they fowl up quicker than std plugs.

i know weve had a bad run on motox bikes with them ,nothing but trouble.

my opinion would be save youre money and throw the coin at a decent cam to suit the lpg and that will give youre more power which just uping the spark rate wont, this is when high energy coils are needed to up the volts to make it this work$$$$$$$.

Cheers Guys, I think I'll hold off on the plugs in the mean time. I was thinking about the cam thing and perhaps planing the thead to raise compression eventually, but with having a new born, gotta save the pennies.
