Are you using an electric or mechanical gauge ?

If its electrical it may be a sender fault eiyher way I would check the gauge first ...
Some people have a portable mechanical gauge that they put in where the oil light sender goes to check the system pressure.

If the pressure is low it will be either a worn out oil pump or a worn out motor :( :(
There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

it only has 127k on it so how long would these motors last?
just the factory gauge on the dash.
also has the ticking that these trucks are known for

Sounds like the sender
Check with your mates and see if anyone has a portable gauge you could borrow.

I am not sure where it is on the v6 but on the older(2.8) models the sender is mounted in the block just below and behind the injector pump on a tee with the oil light sender.
