Post by lee22 »

cos were all skint here in the uk we try not to waste anything. heres some pics of old stuff put to good use on our 4x4s
first up, high lift jack mounts made up from old knackered leaf spring bushes and some tube off cuts

next up power supply in the cab made up from an old set of booster cables, some buzz bars from an old consumer unit(home electric switch board) and a used water proof junction box that was lying arround in the stores. i done this so i didnt have loads of small wire attached to the batteries

so there you go recycling at its best, now lets see what old/odd stuff youve made use off on your motors

That junction box dosen't look that water proof to me, maybe weather prove. How would it act three feet under water?

now everything i needed is wired to it, the holes in the box are sealed with roof and gutter sealant and the lid is 'glued' as it were with a slim bead of silicon run around the inside lip before i screwed it in place, it did have a rubber seal which went round the edge but that was truely knackered. im confident itll stand up well to being 'drowned' but its untested as yet. will be interesting to see how well it works. if ive fucked up and it leaks i have other such boxes (unfortunately smaller) which are fitted with a rubber o-rings in the lid so ill just re-do it. ill sort out some better pics to show you what ive done to make it water tight since the pics were taken
