Holden 6cyl to Hilux 5speed, bellhousing and clutch

Hi.

Does anyone know where I could get a bellhousing to join a 202 Holden with a Toyota Hilux 5 speed gearbox and transfercase. And what's the chances of finding a suitable cluth plate? would I use a toyota or holden item?

I dont know how you could, but I am interested about how you could bolt an auto connected to a 202 to a surf transfer case. Are you going to run EFI with this 202?

Nah it's got the standard stromberg carb, motor runs well and there's plenty of power (for a ~30 year old design motor), I'd be more worried about it poo-ing out some diff parts before losing ground through lack of torque :lol:
I just thought that being a very common motor and the hilux boxes being pretty easy to find, surely someone has tried to put them together.

I run a n EFI'd 202 on my landrover and that goes really well. I used to run a 186 with a stromberg carb and that was much better than the standard landy motor. But bolting on the EFI raises the power output by 20kw or something.

Yeah maybe when I learn how to drive I'll think more power is better, I was on some nice grassy hills today, just sat there throwing mud and grass forward but going nowhere. What's the done thing when you lose momentum on a hill...? she was a bit hairy coming back down backwards. :oops: It's my first 4wd drive so balls haven't met brain yet!
Anyway...surely someone must have put a hilux box behind a red holden motor???

engage reverse as soon as you can, keep your foot off the brake and feather the gas pedal to keep the wheels rotating and give you a bit of steering should the front start coming round.
I would return to same hill and practice. if you have done it a couple of times it makes it a hell of alot easier in the heat of the moment :wink:

Theres a excellent video of Steve demonstrating the technique in the MU floating round on here somewhere :lol: :lol: :lol:

Yeah, that makes sense. Cheers. I had a few cracks at the same patch and I think I was probably feathering the brake more than I should have, which just made it skid...they pick up a bit of speed going backwards eh!
That was a quick leason learnt.

I believe thats a video of me F%&*ing it up totally :lol: more than a training video on how it should be done

in my defence, the front drievshaft had fallen apart just as it started going backwards so trying to use engine braking would have compunded the problem.
