Good going guys. Question, Whers the place in the UK that the drop brackets come from? Im fitting a steel GV diff at the mo also with the drive shaft conversion. What are the new brackets made from? The set on my Escudo look like cast steel but the set that came with the GV diff are fabed up mild plate. I ask this because the right side one will need an extra bolt and corresponding lug welded to the diff. Didnt realise the the new CV flange had to have your mod, as i to have standard A arms and 2" spring lift. Cheers.

hey onoescudo, the diff drop brackets are from www.bits4vits.com, just be aware that the exchange rate is shite at the minute, so it costs a lot. plus postage too. they are steel brackets and they seem well made, recommended

Dont know about this next season (I hope so - thats the 09-10 season not 08-09), maybe a cameo at the Lauri Sanson's if I get there. Budget is getting healthy again so you never know... Bummer about the diffs but better to find the weakspots when you are looking for them than when you cant do anything about it. Wish I could use a steel front axle as it would remove all that doubt (and a bloody big weak spot).

yeah, could do with a steel diff myself. the alloy ones are bloody piss poor. i keep ripping the mounting eyes off mine

will let you know if reeces mod works, hes making up a brace for it.

Yeah. Looked at the bits for vits site. In one of the photos He’s got the short CV shaft conversion much like mine with drop brackets and standard A arms. I need to make another CV shaft but wont make the conversion until iv got the diff sitting lower. Will look for some standard mounts to either modify or build new, if you guy don’t beat me to it. Which is likely at the pace this project is progressing. Cheers

Right time for an update, got the lad out testing the latest overkill idea
Had to solve the wee problem we were having with the the housings snapping out mountings on the drivers side... this was due to drive flange conversion and having to run one less mount


So here is the answer



A 25mm thick CNC plasma cut clamp ring that gives us another 2 mount pionts, the armor was something I've wanted to add for some time as the diff is out there by its self and I know how wingnut drives has me stomping the imaginary brake pedal on the passangers side often enough
The diff cover also does double duty in that it mounts to the lowest 2 bolts on the diff head to lock it on so if he has to back off something there is no way the clamp ring can be pulled off
now all I want to do is build up a second mounting block for the other side of the pinion and I think the alloy diff will be the eqaul of any steel case and a damm site cheaper to replace when he does spit it....
Oh and too all those who have sent PM's to me and wingnut aka weemsy... give us some time to thrash this and just so I can be happy its gona last

whats the silver spacer on top of your lift blocks?

hey al,

do you mean the bodylift blocks? they are part of the calmini kit. it slides over the shank of the fixed body bolts, then the top nut goes inside the square section to bolt body to lift block, then a nut and bolt between the square and the chassis.

does that make sense?? i dont think it does ay il get a piccy if you want?
