I have been having problems lately with crappy radio reception :x . Installed a new ariel over easter hoping this new giant (1.75m) boosted ariel would help but still get poor reception when further away from chch than darfield. I dont know a hell of a lot about radios and was wondering if someone new whether some brands of head unit have better signal pick up than others. I am currently running a pioneer. that is about 10yrs old. any help, tips or otherwise would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, Macca

Make sure your arial has a good ground plane, ie: good metal contact with the body at its base. Also make sure the aerial cable is in good condition. Bigger aerial does not always mean better reception.

I have a bent piece of SS TIG wire for mine, works well most places.

The head unit will account for a lot too...
