rear diff oil leak?

rear diff oil leak?

well noticed oil coming out of the left rear wheel drum today took the drum off and it is coming from.... well the photos shows better than i can explain oh and the handbrake has stopped working but i presume it is because the brake pads are worn.

looks like seals to me.....did the same to my old zuk

Yep new seal and brakes. Get a can of brake clean to get the oil off the drum, maybe get a bearing kit and do the bearings and seals on both sides while it is out of commission. Just check the leak is from the seal and not the slave cylinder in the brakes to be sure.

you still have the front brakes:) just a bit of a pain not having a handbrake cuz u have to stop start all the time. the oil is def not brake fluid so what seals do i replace as i dont really know what seals are in there.

when you get your brake shoes off, remove the handbrake cables and brake pipe from the back plate.

there are 4 nuts on the inside of the back plate (12mm spanner size), undo these and the shaft will slide out (a bit stiff).

the seals are in the end of the axle tube.
