Answer to dieselboys winch problems "Runva"

Post by minefield »

I had to make this a separate post,

I have a 1200lbs runva winch that was labeled 12v not 24v wrong and burnt out last week I called Micheal from Runva and he is replacing the winch in fact I just got a email saying a new replacment winch is on it's on it's way , "no cost."
To me thats service,, The fact is Dieselboy your winch is still going it has not craped out Runva have stood by us give them the benefit of the doubt , Give there faster winch a try as a offroadexpress member Micheal may give you a good deal .

I know of one person with a Warn 9000lb winch that craped out with in 3 months and they did not want to know him
Runve may be Chinese made but they are standing by there products.

For winch challenges you need speed and a big HP motor

Check out the EXW 9500-Q and you will see it will out do the warn

Gear ratio 110.1
10.7 HP motor
Max speed 50.2 ft per min and thats fast
Max load 9500lbs 8.86 ft per min

And all for $700.00

At that price you can have a couple of spare motors on standby
Nissan Safari SWB Auto ,50mm suspension Lift , 50mm body lift, 12000lbs winch,
33x12.5x15 Perilli scorpion muds

Hey mate, yeah thats very true about the Runva Guys.

My EWX 12,000 is a pretty much free upgrade from Michael after i kept breaking my GEW10,000. He sent me a huge amount of parts for the GEW, and eventually got sick of it and sent me the EWX.

Don't get me wrong, its a good winch, infact its a great winch. But I just worry it won't handle the club class comp work. That, and in order to do the winch justice, i need to upgrade the alternator and the batteries/dual batteries. (would have to do that any ways if i stuck with any other brand of electric winch )

I'm not worried about speed, i just want to have fun, finish the stages cleanly and not DNF the event due to winch failure on the second stage

Maybe i should see if he will sell me a spare motor for the EWX and give it a go.

Its held up to all our testing and practice on the hills and bogs at home, so maybe just maybe..............

I'm just not convinced yet that its up to the challenge.

Could you imagine paying the $150 entry fee, plus heading the 2 hours up to helensville with the truck on the back, then the winch crapping out?? That would be major hissy fit status

The EXW is a good rely able winch , I am referring to the 24v one using twin battery's I know of one that has been on too winch challenges and still going strong might be a bit slow but like you this person runs club man.
I will give Micheal his due he's on the ball when it comes to back up service :D

Maybe Mike will do a deal (provide one for nothing - if you dont need it then you give it back) and this would be a good real life test of the winches he sells and their reliability under trying conditions. Of course you may have to have a sticker on your truck for a few days and if this proves they are good once and for all (can stick it with the big boys) then it wont do his business any harm will it. Might even have you raving on here about how great they are and sell a few more for him.

i forget which one 1 have on my truck. its a 12000lb cnt remember which model but it pulled my big heavy truck outa sum nasty spots at the last norwest club chellenge, its been though maratoto, and up at extreme a coupla times. i run a single dry cell and have done nothing to the winch but bolt it on the truck   it hasn't let me down yet (grabing sum wood  ) i'll b upgradeing to sumthing faster soon if the wallet can handle it :D but the winch has more than enough power to drag my arse around and for the price its dne more than enough work to have paid for its self.

The biggest key is battery's and cable. Most winches come with too smaller battery cable and that heats up, causes voltage drop and this fries the motor.
Most winches with decent power supply will keep on going if treated accordingly. Winch Challenges DO NOT allow you to do this so they can over heat very quickly so this is where you want quality.
The 6hp Warn motors is a Bosch motor and the 7.8hp 24v Superduty have been proven reliable by myself and quite a few others over the past 4 years of comp use.
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.
