Bulletproof Chasm Track this weekend with Jafa

Post by Bulletproof »

On Saturday we will be going through the track so if anyone is interested with a well set up truck with winch you will be welcome to join us.

I have made a booking at Ikamatua for Fri and Sat nights as there are no cabins in Reefton.

Shouldn't be any track building as we did that a week ago. Come and see Jafa's truck in action.

Let me know if interested.

Cheers Richard

Very good weekend- Eat your hearts out

Marc and Steve crackett , Andy Jackson and his son, Jafa and myself went through bulletproof chasm on the saturday and then drove back up the chasm to make a return trip back to Jafa's trailer.

Jafa demonstrated his awesome truck and is now the only person to drive the second bank out of the chasm. Very scary watching Jafa and Andy in the Grey river. They were being pushed sideways towards a deep hole as quick as their forward speed.

Today did slab hut , green hut and just Jafa and myself did Petrol hill. Jafa made it look easy.

Janet didn't go so haven't much video but will post a couple that I took when I load them in the computor.

Might need a new windscreen. a branch went through it

Which bank, which end? I think you are talking about the last bank out heading towards the Clarke river? Am I right??

Did you send him up to Westport with Uboat, Richard?
He will have some fun up the back of Deniston on the "moonrocks" and (if still open or reopened) Moa bones. Flag would like to have a look at Jafas wreck as well I'm sure.

Oh, and what makes you think it was a branch that buggered your screen?

Yes he has gone up to westport to do Tailings with Marc

Here is a video of Jafa becoming the only person to drive the second bank out of Chasm. This the first time he has revved it right out

I have more to come . Rock crawling and petrol hill

He might not have a winch but he needs one and is going to fit one.

Over the weekend he still had to be winched and towed and the third bank out of the chasm has yet to be conquered.

Why do I get the feeling it won't be just a normal "buy it and fit it " type number.
Although not road legal, it is still a nice bit of kit isn't it?

Driving up the Chasm we made Jafa take the hard route. When I say hard route I mean just that, over 1 metre high vertical rocks.
Because of wet tyres he couldn't quite get the back up ,but a very good demo of its capabilities none the less.

Another couple of small clips on the Chasm track

1 A tricky entry to the creek
2 a small bog hole

Done with ease

What is the name of the bit of track off to the right just before you get back out onto Big River track Richard? It just goes straight up and does a loop at the top in (what used to be anyway) a big sloppy hole.

We call that the bike track, because of the bike in the tree. Jafa and myself did that and he broke another drag link end.

He broke one in Canterbury as well ,so that mod is on his hit list.
