love 'em. real noisy though, I run them at 40psi on the road to keep the noise down. Shit on wet rocks but then thats to be expected. I hiope yoo like mud in your truck as they will put plenty in there. run them on a 7" rim with tubes otherwise you will pop the bead all the time.

8 inch will be fine, I used to take my simexes down to 8psi without beadlocks and never popped a bead. If your looking at the simex style silverstones they dont last long on the road, I think mine were almost smoove after about 12k

Take them to a place that balances truck tyres, they supply heavier weights so you don't have weights all around the rim.

Are these a harder compound than the creepy crawlers? What are they like on clay and rock? Is 7" rims essential ?

Re: silverstones what do you guys think of them
im heading out on sunday, going to be a real steep track and most the soil make up there is clayish, been reasonably wet on the east coast the last week so will be a good test. i have my ones on 15x8 rims and run them with tubes at about 12psi, am going to try them at 10 on sunday probably. will let you know how it goes.

Re: silverstones what do you guys think of them
I put mine on 7" rims as I contuinually was popping beads on 8" rims. Yes I had tubes in them and still do. I was letting them down to 10 PSI. I now go even lower on the 7" rims. In my opinion they are a better compound then the creepys. On wet rocks they are crap, on clay sidlings they can be a little scary, just don't stop.

The term "trencher" came to mind, don't go near sand or pumice though, half turn wheelspin and you'd be sitting on yer axles!

Re: silverstones what do you guys think of them
Balancing is an issue and truck weights are required in most cases, but then the same applies to similar tyres from other brands. Few people realise is that Simex is a copy of Silverstone which (I beleive) was developed for the Malaysian challenges.

Re: silverstones what do you guys think of them
now it has been a year since the last post are there any more comments on these extreme tyres after you guys have thrashed yours? Am looking at getting these as play tyres and keep my half warn BFGs as my sand/camping tyre.
Also has anyone tried the Sport version? not sure if it is in NZ but looks like it could be a good tyre as well.

Re: silverstones what do you guys think of them
the sports do look like they could be a good tyre but maybe not quite as aggressive as the Silverstone MT-117 Xtreme.
I was so happy with the performance of mine and so were about 4 others in the local club here that have got them on vehicles ranging from, Suzuki Vitara's, 70' series Cruisers, Jeep Wranglers, ranging in sizes from 31, 33, and I use the 35's.
They dig real well and suit the clay based soil up the eastcoast here. only thing that could make them better is if you could run them on bead locked rims.
only thing you could compare them to would be the Simex's of the same tread pattern, but they are in most cases more then another $100 per tyre than the silverstones.

Re: silverstones what do you guys think of them
Hay cheers for the info!!!Yeah cannot go simex as they dont make a true 31" ( which I dont get!!! if you say 31" it should be) and that is the max I can fit on my lada without major arch rework into footwell etc.
You cannot fit them to beadlock rims?? is this because they are too narrow or thick at the bead?Could you not spec the bead width when getting the rims beadlocked? I still have not got beadlocks but was planning too when I got these. but seeing as I have 3 sets of 15x7 rims and people are saying if you run these on 7 instead of 8s they dont pop the bead I might just stay with 7s.
Any pics would not go amiss either.

Re: silverstones what do you guys think of them
Simple solution is to go with internal beadlocks.

Re: silverstones what do you guys think of them
sorry if i was a bit vague with the bead lock rims suggestion, you can run them on locked rims and i would recommend it as i have ripped the valve stems off on 4 tubes since i have had mine as they tend to get good traction making the rim spin inside the tyre if you are really giving it to your truck.
i havent popped a tyre off the rim yet either and run them on 15x8 but i think the 31 would be max width of 7inch wide rims.
