What 35" tyres shoud I get??
There are so many tyres out there, what ones are good and what ones are just crap??
It will help if you all can give me some feed back on what works before I shell out the big dollars.
I live in sunny Taupo, but it's not sunny all the time and I love to play in some mud, so thay will have to be good in the mud and stuff, but will not be used on the road and road noise is not a problem as I will not hear it in the tow truck.

it is excactly the same length as it is from here to there +/_ 0.0002"
for taupo in that loamy soil you would probably be best with a radial MT like the good year MTR as they dont dig as much and tend to sit on top a bit more, but if you want a tyre that digs like hell then a centepede or silverstone

If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
Re: What 35" tyres shoud I get??
For general 4x4 in 35" it is very hard to go past a Simex ET2.
The Silverstones a re good but a little aggressive for a Nissan. Great if it is hard but they dig really quickly so can be a problem.
With a TD42 there isn't much else out there (read available below 37") that is worth considering. A few Swampers maybe but they just don't have the manners of the Simex so not really an option. The Iroc seems pretty good but is bigger than you want.
Maxxis have some good tyres but the 35" ones are bit to close in the tread and clog up. There more aggressive patterns are 37" and bigger.
Micky T are no sold in NZ as present.
Radial MT's aren't really going to cut it on a Nissan. You need really good tyres to overcome the wieght issues and take advantage of the power.

Last time I measured it was 1 mtere 3 inches
I would agree with darinz but you need to work out how much mud are you going to be doing 80 percent 90 percent or 10 percent then work it from there

There seems to be 2 sizes of Simex 35/11.5-15 ETs, one about 35 inches or just under and about 35.75, buy a set of 4 and often both sizes are there.

that is because some makes are 35" finished size and some are 35" carcass size.
so you get a bigger tyre when it is finished with tread.

Re: What 35" tyres shoud I get??
Is their much difference in performance between silverstones & simex. I'm looking to upgrade my tyres, want to use my 10" wide rims so was leaning towards 35x12.5x15 simex. Are 10" rims too wide for 11.5 silverstones, maybe better on 8"?

They both work better on 7 inch rims
It all depends on whether you want image or performance
I run 35x11.5 ETs and 35x12.5 BFGs and with half an hours drive each is best so there is no ulimate tire
Cheers Richard

Re: What 35" tyres shoud I get??
I worked in Taupo for about 5 months and took my patrol out a bit. I run 35 creepys and they were fine in the soft stuff. If I had a turbo it might have been a bit different in that pumice soil out off the napier road as it did like to dig holes at times. They go fine so long as your not in thick sticky mud as I didn't really have the power to clear them properly.
Can go see klem at performance mechanical and have a talk about tires too. Theres a white suzuki around with mud addict written on the bonnet. Thats Graham and he knows a lot of areas quite well if you got any questions.

Not interested in image, just trying to work out the best options, currently running bfg's, struggling to keep up with mates in the mud with more aggresive tyres. By using exsisting rims hoping to save money but might be better to buy a cheaper tyre (silverstone) & new rims rather than more exspensive simexs.

i think you will be pleasantly supprised at what the silverstones can do. i run them on my swb safari and the do the business alright.

Re: What 35" tyres shoud I get??
Silverstones are smaller diameter than Simex, have a slightly more open tread (bigger gaps between the blocks), and seem to wear out a little faster. Both have a bigger overall diameter on the 16in rim than on 15in rims for some reason...
Roughly (not measured):
Simex 32x10.5x15 = 33in
Simex 32x10.5x16 = 34in
Simex 35x11.5x15 = 35in
Simex 35x11.5x16 = 36in
Silverstone 35x10.5x15 = 33.5in
Silverstone 35x10.5x16 = 34.5in

Re: What 35" tyres shoud I get??
I've only had these new style BF Goodrich KM2 35's for a week. yeah yeah, they will probably never get muddy but. On the road I've found them better than the Goodyear Wranglers by far.
They were around the same price as the Wranglers too.

I couldn't be 100% on that Gary because my speedo registers slower than the actual speed. But at a guess approximately 60.000ks with around 6-7mm tread left.
Re: What 35" tyres shoud I get??
im liking the new BFG KM2, drove a 200 series with them and they held onto the road good, i will prob get a set for the 80 once my current KM1s are shot....
i used to Cruise, now i PATROL
Re: What 35" tyres shoud I get??
The Simex 35-11.5-15 when inflated are usually around 36 high and the Silverstone 35-11.5-15 is only around 34 maybe upto 34.5 once inflated, There is a big difference in the sizing andthe rim width also depends on what you want from them as some guys like them on wider rims 8-10 inch wide so they dont sink as easily and if you want them digging everything then the 7 inch seems to be the best..

Oh really they must be all different then as my Silverstone's sitting beside the 35 inch Simex's on Dean Well's rally truck are way smaller, He's got his on 10in beadlocked rims put we even compared the spares not on rims and the same again with the Silverstone being smaller, I should of actually measured them propally.
But as you say Dave ive also seen other sets of Simex's that werent as big either, The set that Dean has are Jaffa's old ones when his plans were the winch truck scenario.
