MrO's project escudo

Post by mroffroader »

Ok first of all I wasn't going to put a build thread on here because I don't frequent this site much anymore but thought I might let you guys know what i'm up to these days..

DON'T POST SHIT IN MY THREAD OR I WILL DELETE IT

As i bought it, a bog standard 2L v6 with a farked engine (as they do)

Image

some chopping began (ute chop)

Image

Image

The trans assembly arrived, its a holden auto adapted to a cruiser transfer case with a lower gear set in it (thanks pedro  )

Image

then a motor turned up

Image

Some more chopping and welding happened as we put some prado diffs under it and extended the wheel base front and rear

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

The most recent efforts, body off the chassis to mount engine and trans etc. took off my 37" MTR's as there sold to Rokhound and put on my new 36" iroks on my 10" beadlocks

In the shed

Updates to come as more gets done providing this thread doesn't get filled with dribble :D

The impression I get is that he is pretty much going to do 2 rollbar hoops just behind the drivers head and then some other bars going straight down, similar to the "freak" trials buggy

Prado front swinger box (gota do some operation on the chassis   ) pretty much bolt it together after that then when engine is mounted and body back on etc i can decide its final ride height and make a mount for the panhard. Im going to do the boox while the body is off. Its sooo much easier to work on :D

Not that much done this weekend as it was to finer weather and im a lazy prick

couple pics of what I did get done.....one engine mount  and got the other side sorted just gota fab it glue it together and bolt it on.....got my drive shafts sorted (know what i need to do....and figured my trans mounts so will get them done when i get around to it

Drive shaft angle isn't looking to bad....i thought it was gonnna be really bad but it turned out ok. and the trans and transfer is totally flat bellied and at the bottom of the transfer its 600mm off the ground  and my radius arm mounts are 510mm off the ground so i dont think i should get hung up on to much stuff

The engine side of the mount

Image

Chassis plated and beefed up with mount glued on

Image

Gusseting

Image

Image

Image

and the front d/shaft and engine mount

Image

Please excuse the crap photos :D

My driveshafts are exactly the same length which is how i wanted it so i only have to carry one spare and it fits front or rear

Sorry didn't see your question.. Im using the standard prado LWB drive shafts. The front one fits but i need to lengthen it a little because the slip yolk mite not be quite enough offroad. The rear one i need to shorten a little as its a bit too long. Remember i have stretched my wheel base aswell

Will get pics and measurements for you this weekend. I have stretched my wheel base but in relation to that my transfer case is exactly in the middle of the two diffs and my motor is quite far back
