wheel bearings? (safari)

Post by JR »

hay all, am new to this site, singed up a few weeks ago. im after a bit of advise on the front end. returned from a trip to the west coast to find a lot of slop in the front wheel bearings, tightened them up sweet as but driving along, all of a sudden it will bind up, pull to the side, make a lot of noise, then let go and go back to normal. Any thoughts on what this could be if not the bearings? and if so are these easy enough to do myself?

Pull it apart and have a look, it aint too hard. I would say the bearing is stuffed, it won't hurt to pull the whole hub apart and grease everything.
