I dare say you need to sell the motor or winch, and buy the correct one.

DaveM is right, unless you happen to have a dual 12V battery installation in your pattyroller and can make something work using the two batteries in series for your winch?
Re: running 24volt winch off 12 volt power
If it's just for club run occassional use etc you could just run it off one of the batteries as a normal 12v

That'd be a bad idea sorry, unless you wanted to burn it out.
Re: running 24volt winch off 12 volt power
Definately wouldn't run it from a 12v supply
Re: running 24volt winch off 12 volt power
Why not run it on the Safari? It's not just the motor thats 24v, its the solenoids too, so $$$ if you want to get these replaced
Quick question, I'm assuming the title isn't wrong, and you aren't asking about running a 12v winch on the 24v Safari?

ah, the 2.8 power aye, love mine (not)

The "extensions" that slide into the chassis should be the same, with you only needing to make your own mounting bracket to sit on these I would think.
The electric mount is usually a big steel L shape bracket bent to shape with support brackets on the side for extra strength from memory.
Re: running 24volt winch off 12 volt power
Yeah Radar is right. Run 2 batteries in parallel normally and tie them in series for when you want to winch. Can have this happen automatically using the winch control circuit which livens the winch when you plug the controller in. I'm unsure what this will do to the rest of your electrics tho, like your charging circuit might not like it so you might have to isolate the batts when winching. Just a guess.

cheers all sounds fairly simple now just got to find myself a good 12v winch, looking at buying one of those runva winches off trademe. bit concerned about how reliable it will be though. dont trust anything made in china

and yea the 2.8 is a hunk of crap.

Everything is made in china these days. The bonus is that the importer is really good to deal with if anything goes wrong with it. just ask diesel boy
