A common calling channel for PRS CB radios

Post by dazza85 »

Copied from Auckland 4WD club website
Spotted another club member in traffic and want to talk on the radio but don't know what channel to use?

The club agreed at a recent meeting to adopt the PRS Ch16 (4x4) as the 'default' channel for our vehicles. Checks with the Radio Spectrum management got their agreement that with proper use of the radios they have no issue with our use of Ch16.

It has been suggested that all 4x4 clubs in NZ adopt this channel as a calling channel. (Australian clubs use PRS Ch10 if you are over there)

What do people think of this ?

It means that where ever you are you can contact others

Once contact is made you can choose to change channel if ya wanted to have a decent chat ...

A bit like the old days on "AM" CB
There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.
