Wanted FJ40 '74ish seat frames/seats

Post by Mongoose »

Hey all, long time no post.
Does anyone have an original set of seat frames and possibly seats for the older style ('74) FJ40 that they'd part with? Prefer Christchurch area if possible. Having some hassle with a WOF due to the mechanic claiming he doesn't think the frames my aftermarket seats are bolted to are the original ones.
Grateful if anyone can help out, PM if you can.
Cheers.
Greg.

Do you have any pix of the set up you have now in your 40? Which place are you taking your truck for a WOF??
I met your partner today at work. She told me about the hassles you're having getting a WOF for it.

HI, as far as i know they dont need to be on the original frames, if you can mount the frames you've got to the factory mount holes is a good start. I've got ford fairmont seats in the front of my 40 and one bolted in the back. Just had it all cert'd a few weeks ago, cert guy had no probs with it at all.

Hi guys, sorry I never got back to this thread, didn't log into ORE for a long time due to getting pissed off and demotivated with the FJ40 and overly picky WOF guys.
Ended up sorting a few things out and finding a warrant station with an old guy who loves the truck and has a more sensible attitude to the rules. He's never had a problem with the seats, but did complain about me not having a rubber cap on my brake pedal last warrant :) Dunno what I'll do when he retires.

Pete, my missis did say she'd met a guy at work with a really nicely restored soft top 40, didn't realise it was you. That roof looks awesome mate.

Cheers.

For WOF's I'd take it to Rick's at 4WD Accessories on Montreal St in town mate. I wouldn't say he's the easiest dude to get one. But he's realistic.
The rubber pads on my pedals wore out ages ago. Since I've used the same grip tape that on the side bash bars. Works really well. You can buy it from Para Rubber on Morehouse Ave.

Cool, thanks Pete. I'm definitely not looking for an easy warrant but someone with a reasonable attitude and appreciates it's an old car and not likely to tick all their boxes is good.
Will also grab some of the grip tape from Para, cheers for the advice.
