as the title suggests
what cunning ideas does everyone have for removing TAR splatters from your vehicle
have read up on a few, but they all seem to try to soften the tar so it falls off and then it removes the wax as well
wot options do you have that you have found to work
cheers

Plain old diesel.
When I was working on a asphalting gang we used it for everything, it keeps the barrows free from asphalt, clears the soles of your boots, use it on all the tools, even the truck bed.
CRC556 also works, Amway used to make a gel bug and tar remover, but the issue with anything that removes tar is that you are going to have to re-polish afterwards. If it removes tar, it will remove wax and polish.

Last yr i had my car splattered by tar when Fulton Hogan were resealing a car park...they gave me a bottle of something to remove it.....It was awesome....it was water soluble ...Ijust wiped a section of the car then hosed it off...did whole car in about 45 mins .
Ring you local branch of Fulton Hogan & they will tell you what it was....Soooo much easier than any mineral based cleaner .

Meths got it off my car wheels pretty well.
I think any non-polar solvent will do the trick (diesel, petrol, kero, meths, turps etc).
