Arch/Guard extensions - What material?

Anyone got a smart way of making up arch/guard extensions?
I've seen the commercial ones, but reckon there must be a cheaper way...... suggestions on where to get rubber or the like?

Do what Hirklux (Rik) did when he put the 40's on his D'Cab, get a plastic 44 gallon drum and cut it in half worked for him

I use thinnish conveyorbelt rubber. The stuff they retire off a sandworks machine or similar costs nothing. Deforms a little better than the edging i think too.

yea i was taking the piss about the wale tail flares, but still a hilux on 40's = very cool

I used way more then i thought so i don't have any left sorry. Like full widthx 1.5m+ long in each of the front guards and halfwidth is goin in the back...Only just got enough.
Yeah it has nylon fibre in it. Similar to what tonys patrol had but slightly thicker. I think you can get it new from a place next to the workers...HCD maybe...Don't thinks its real cheap though. I've seen big stacks of old stuff out behind there too. They usually crap out cos of sun damage and i looked at heapsa old belt before getting some. All the big crushers like at the stone quarries and coal mines run way too heavy belt from what i seen.

Umm I think third gear 3000 revs gets 100K's on the clock so 5th at 7500 rev's well he may have the first 300+ Kmh Hilux at that speed it possibly could take off, but then you heavy nissan owners would complain we Toyota owners are cheating

Para Rubber have a whole selection of reinforced rubber sheeting. They have it in a range or thinkness and width. I've been looking at replacing mine with it and they have some that is about 300mm wide and 3mm thick. Just enough to hold shape but will bend out of the way easy as well. It also seemed pretty cheap compared to conveyor rubber which will end up costing more than the truck!

yup thats where im thinking of going to get some rubber to use as seals on the landy

& no not as seals for the diff's

they gona be seals between the panels on the floor's n under the roof n so forth.
