safaripete, I import them so thanks. They are very capable machines. Heath, over in the States they have their own category, but that's because UTVs of all types are very popular there. Not so in New Zealand or Australia yet, hopefully that will change soon.

side by sides in the states are huge, we have been looking into getting a kawasaki teryx, my favourite by a mile, you can offroad race them, mud plug them,rock crawl them............., aftermarket longtravel suspension kits are very popular, about $5000us, and the mods never end

Quite a cool toy!! Its compact dimensions reminded me a of a Suzuki LJ50... Given the choice between a new one of these and a brand new LJ50. I'd go with the LJ cos there super cool

swampa, the new Teryx should be showing up with efi (or dfi as they are calling it)if not now then very soon. I guess Kawasaki have to shift the carby models 1st. My advice is wait for the dfi one if you can & that would be the 09 Teryx 750 FI. dfi means digital fuel injected.

bigger engine, more aticulation, 35 inch wheels, and u are talking a totally differant vechile.
most of the ones i,ve seen imported here are made in china, (aprt from the yamaha/polaris)
and could handle like 15mins of hard use and then fall apart.
polaris handles 20 mins.
once upon a time on this forum i posted a topic about using one for trials, now i,ve done a dozen or so events

been on half a dozen side by sides, my best ride was on a 08 teryx with aftermarket cdi, full muzzy exhaust and a few other bits, absolute rocket, have looked into getting a monster edition 09 teryx but kawasaki arent bringing that model in, have been told around 21k for a 09

tpft, the UTVs I import, Joyner is an American brand and they manufacture all their UTVs & Buggies in China using supplies from different counties. What might surprise you is a Polaris factory is just up the road & Yamaha outsource most of their parts from there as all the big players do. As far as only lasting 15 mins and falling apart, that could be true with what you tried but most certainly not the case with any modern branded UTV. Most the guys I talk to in the States that have moved onto UTVs, have done so because they were sick of been left behind by their buddies on trails, rocks, mud and on the sand by Side X Sides. The other reason was that they could fit on most Quad tracks. As the Suzuki guys will tell you power to weight works well. For example a few months back I climbed a fairly steep heavily rutted track in the rain that was slippery as, after two full size 4WDs made a mess in failing to get up. I got up without any slippage or dramas at all. One big difference was I did have the front and rear diff lockers on and aggressive mud tires as opposed to the 4WDs. That was in the Trooper not the Renegade which has a 1100cc and 12" ground clearance & a full skid pad. Same as my avatar.
