Hi guys
I am new to this forum as I have just recently purchased a 4wd... an 85 2litre petrol 5 speed surf. Solid beam axle... (I hear these are better than IFS for 4wdin???) It has only done 173 original kms and has never been offroad... Bit of a score i think for wanting a standard one to build up...
I am a member of other car forums and have been for years but now my interests have changed, well grown, and I am delving into the unknown world of 4wding...
ANYWAY... My smurf came with crap as road/maybe but probably not 4wd tyres with bugger all tread and I have the option of purchasing some Maxxi Buckshot 32s for pretty darn cheap off a mate. I have a 15inch rim on the smurf at the moment so will wrap the Maxxi's around those if I decide to purchase...
As I am only getting into 4wding I take it these tyres will be ok? No clearance issues with a smurf?
Appreciate peoples comments...

Hi there one of the wellington guys had a thing for surf's
and it was ifs so with the beam axle you are much better off. He had 33's on it with no problem. The buck shots are not bad but what sort of driving you want to do grass, sand mud.....To start of with they will do the trick. There are trips coming up so keep a eye out on here and come along......cheers abbo

Don't have 4wd.

Re: 32" Maxxis on Smurf...
ive got 33" muds on standard height, sits fairly high tho, so if yours aint sagged should be sweet, remove rear bumper, front bumper skirt/valance, and flatten out the sharp bits in front inside guard

Re: 32" Maxxis on Smurf...
There is a seam in the back of the front fender (in front of the drivers feet) that will want some massaging flat with a hammer otherwise it can chew your tyres, this was for 33's and at full stuff you will get some rub, the standard leaves are pretty flat and love to go negative (invert) most after market leaves with lift have a bow in then so cannot go negative or if they do soon droop so when replacing springs for long life look at the bump stop.

Re: 32" Maxxis on Smurf...
sweet i got the 32s on there today and just went for a drive and they seem to be sweet... no rubbing at all at full lock or nothing so seem to be all good...
will get some pics up soon
