intercoolers

Post by mercutio »

so i've got a turbo to bolt onto my wagon and i was thinking is it worth fitting an intercooler as well i think i would be able to mount it in front of the radiator without to many hassles i was just thinking of getting a secondhand one of trademe but are there differences between petrol and diesel ones or not

petrol or diesel i wont matter just make sure you get it chemically cleaned to save pressure drop and contaminates entering the engine.

so tell me what is the gwagon mainly used for ?50/50 off road or what?.

the most effecient way would be water to air charge coolers they work a treat and will cool 10 times more than youre std air to air conventional cooler, theres a bit more crap to mount but when you look at the performance gains i dont see it as an issue when both are compared, the only down side is the price $1500-2000,but thats not to say you cant a adapt a factory toyota or subaru system.

but before all this i would be fitting an egt guage then play with our intake temps.

do it once do it well and do it wright :!:

'cos the wrights built an airplane, and if they can do that, you can fit a turbo

Oops, Sorry  :P

Don't go front mount tho, if you ever go play in the mud you'll have the devils time cleaning it... and between it and the rad. If you play in trees you risk breaking it with big sticks... bolt it on top, stick a cheap supercheap autos fan on top and a bonnet scoop of a bighorn to let the air in (flat bonnet, looks similar to the g bonnet so should be easy to adapt).

  i was getting to that steve thats why i asked how much off roading he does you always beat me to it you old bugger :P .you post pincher you :P

front mounts also give big psi drop and create heaps of lag on offroaders.

and i thought the wright brothers invented the mu cos i know they like flying into holes :P :P
