8" or 10" x 15" steelies

wanting to buy some steel wheels to run 35x12.5" tyres.

Which is going to give me the best grip/handling and least rub?

your less likely to pop a bead with 8" rims and they will have less backspace than a 10" rim so there'll be less chassis rub

Sorry, now I understand what you're asking. I run 13.5 x 35 15s on 8" and they're fine, even though the book says 10" is the size to use. They're wearing nice and flat. Ran 12.5 x 35 on another vehicle, also on 8" rims but I always use tubes. Don't know if that's the key or not.

I went with 8" for my 33's for the bead reason (could have gone 7" for 33's but then i'd have to get new rims if I ever have money to up size). Another reason was also because the skinnier they are the less horses they steal.

I have 10x15 and no chassis rub. Depends on what tyre you plan to run and how much road driving you want to do i think which would determine whether you can get away with the skinny rim. My creepys have a round profile tread anyway so skinny rims would make that alot worse I would think. I have seen 35 wranglers on 15x8s work fine but i'm not sure if they are 12.5 wide?? but they tuck right under the guards so you don't need flares. The big offset on my 10s means the tyres protect everything that the sliders cant from too much damage. I'm sure you could pick up 10s from someone on here for less than new 8x15's

mint aye , have run em on the road for maybe a year and 10+ trips maybe, centre lugs are wearing a bit but still heaps left. Theyre heavy as hell but road manners are all good. I havnt been able to slide em in the wet even when I've been trying to, better than wrangler mt/r, you do end up chasing it a bit down the road though under heavy braking. They can also pass for warrants. They build up heat though so don't go too fast on seal. Ive been sitting at lights before in the rain and the tyres are steaming. They're not a belted tyre so the heats even worse for them apparently. I cant clear real sticky clay but all other terrain is fine. i wouldn't wana run em on 15x8s given their profile. I havn't run tubes in em yet as the inside of mine seem to be quite rough and i didn't want to rub through the tube. Anyone had problems with this?? If you do a 75mm or less lift you are going to HAVE to do some body work mods.

Run mine on 8" rims with tubes, fantastic off road and not bad on road. I have 75mm sus lift and good offset and no problems with rubbing at all, in fact am looking at 37's for when I put the turbo on
