How much room you got to play with? Probably got a few slim bows laying around but they stick out about 25mm? from memory. You'd probably be best just to cut some rectangle slots in it. Could carpet the insides of them to so it still looks tidy.

I'm prepared to use an external handle. Didn't really want to go with a cut out as it will give the possibility of things falling out. A recess in the top might be an option.

Was looking at those sea chest type handle that folds down but that might rattle. Found a recessed type handle that looks good but expensive and not well secured. Want something sturdy. What are the slim bows like?

hmm that reminds me... She was meant to make one of these while she was over

How rude is it to send a photo of that from Aust and never make it while you are here in NZ?

Guess its my fault for over working her

You'd only need a hole a bit bigger that your fingers and I'd doubt stuff small enough to fit though that would stay sitting near the top. I'd do that and staple a bit of plastic from an Ice cream container or something to the back along the top and it would act as a wee flap to hold things in, but still let your fingers in and out. Even a bit of carpet would work. Don't know how pretty you want it all though haha.

That's the most basic slim bow. You can get wider ones, but they probably aren't worth the price.

I will check the odds and sods box for some of the pictured ones tomorrow.

If you want to save weight and space why not use an old section of two strop, the two ends screwed on the inside of the drawyer and the loop over the top to the outside, the whole lot could be attached fron the outside but may not look good.

You could drill a hole and put a piece of rope through too with a knot on each end :) and just push the rope in to the drawyer up to the outside knot so it isn't there for the dog to chew or play with and you can ask scud to get the 10mm spanner and with the rope he could open the drawer  not sure what he would get the 10mm tho

These are great and the spring return means they don't rattle -( the top Jaycar link)
Also capable as a lifting handle if you pull the drawer right out

Yeah am doing a reno, (Not exactly a villa unfortunately) and it is getting the priority, so the Cruiser gets a little less time/money/effort than it might want.

I originally bought a 4x4 (surf) as a mobile toolbox and then upgraded to cruiser. The draws are an attempt to keep the recovery gear and tools tidy and out of the road to leave better load area etc. They are made out of bits and pieces and a few parts I bought - hence the desire for 'cheap' handles :)

Those top jcar ones do look the part! But might have a dig in my dad's shed - there may be something simple there.

a building firm here had all their new ford ranger's sent to an engineer and had massive rolling sliders made, , steel ballbearing rollers, the works, can slide with upwards of 150kg plus on top, quite costly sets of drawers though, 3500- 4000,
good luck with the renovations
