torsion bars

Post by surf_tomo »

Hi all. I have wound up the torsion bars on my surf to match the rear rancho's, quite a common practice. Will this change its handling or anything alse to do with the suspension/ steering? Have just got it off the hoist and noticed that i have done one side higher than the other so will have to be re adjusted

Cheers.

as long as u haven wound them up to far u should be ok,bout 1.5 ta 2" windup max, after that u have no down travel and get all sorts of issues, also depending on weather ur tyres get used fast u may want to get wheel alignment and just see how far outa spec it is,and yeh idealy drivers side needs to be slightly higher to accomodate for driver but no way higher

You will wear tyres faster, put greater stresses on steering gear, will wear relay rods and steering tierods faster. You should look at investing in a calmini kit for it or buy a truck with front axle.
