Whats the deal with the waiuku forest, is it able to be access for just a day drive or is it all locked off for logging like most?

i thought waiuku forest was different tho, people go thru the forest to get to the coast to go fishing

Yep, there's a gravel road through to the coast, but to get into the forest you need a permit and a key.

The Auckland and Manukau clubs run trips in there every now and then, so watch their trip calendars if you want to get in there and have a play.
