engine starting

When my surf engine is stone cold it cranks and fires instantly after warming up the plugs, however once warm is quite hard to start - it turns over and turns over for 6 or 7 seconds before eventually firing. I have had the batterys tested and they are not fantastic however i would have thought it would have been hard to start cold not warm if the batts were on the way out. Glow plugs are only a couple of months old too.. any ideas??

Mine behaves exactly the same way, however I have a leaky fuel pump so I'm keen to see if putting the new pump in fixes the problem.

is it 2lte if so once it slightly warm the ecu will stop glowing so you wont get full glow hence harder to start only way around it is after market glow timer

the fuell pump crossed my mind, but mine doesnt leak at all. Radar - yeah its 2lte like yours, are they any drama cost wise or hard to install? Cheers fellas

not to bad if you know your way around the ecu wiring but if you want to get it done it at an auto sparky it would probly only cost around $150

i doubt its anything to do with glow plugs. once motor is hot it doesn't need them for starting.

i would check if your getting air into the fuel system. common culprit is the primer pump and fuel filter. however when the IP seals start to go they can suck air in and cause problems.
the other thing that causes a few werid running problems is TPS.
