How to remove guard (70 series cruiser)

Post by Slideways »

Hey guys, had a mishap the other weekend (read: truck fell over  ).

Anyway, I need to pull the drivers side guard off (both upper and lower section) to see if I can beat it back into shape. I started unbolting it but I can't see where the top part is held on plus I removed all the bolts I could see for the inner guard then found its sandwiched between the 2 panels running under/in front of the radiator. So can't get the inner guard out of the way to get to the bolts holding the lower guard to the upper section!

Could someone please tell me what the correct order is to remove the whole guard, do I need to remove other panels first? What order should I remove things?

It looked like a simple job until I got into it! Jeez I can do an engine swap on the front lawn in the dark but can't get a guard off?!

EDIT: its a '85 BJ73

Its easier to remove the whole guard and then seperate the halves

Cheers, I got it off the next day once I had some light and found some hidden bolts. It was easier in one piece too.

Did without any angle grinding too..
