I have a land owner in my area that has approached a group of us to help him open up his 1300 ac property to paying 4wders to help him maintain/make new tracks.
Wondering how much would someone normally or be prepared to pay for access? Daily or all weekend?
He has access to approx 1000 ac of native bush that he has made/cleared bush tracks with his bulldozer that loop up etc. Couple of us had a look and its a pretty good day. It's escentually his hobby farm/hunting block so he doesn't mind 4wds skidding around certain parts. It is about a hour south of Te Kuiti.
Farm access - how much to pay?

If you want to check out "market" rates in the industry check out Landcruiser Park in Qld, Oz. But I don't pay more then $20 for farm access. But a commercial venture with a 4wd park will be a good money spinner. I reckon this will be our only way of enjoying our sport the way things are going, that's if we don't run out of fossil fuel first

You can make a "Koha" or Love offering as a thank you for allowing you on his land

Hehehe I hope this "Love offering" is nice looking!

The liabily thing comes with the teritory on these type of parks/farms.
Some of the outfits I've seen on the web that are in Auckland and the Wairarapa are incredibly costly. What about the ralliwoods place down Wellington, do you have to pay for that?

As JTop said there is real legal responsability on the land owner, with nasty peniltys if you pay for access and something goes wrong... one way of getting round it is
A farmer charging a "toll" to drive on his road
you had to drive on his road to get to the back of the farm where you were allowed to play for free
Another way is what a local trust is doing.... you pay for access to drive on there tracks and you sign a decleration that you will stay on the recognised tracks and if you go off the tracks they claim no responsabilty....
As for price, I'm a kiwi and I hate paying for recreation
but I recognise if I want access I've got to, I can live with $20 a day after all its really not that much for a whole day, but on principle I wouldn't pay anymore
or I'd try and sort a trade for free access, sort of like what I'm sorting with this local trust
if I make a few tracks then.....
Cheers Reece
