Repower

Post by BigMike »

Hi all, i have been reading the forums about repowering the surfs with supra etc, can someone tell me whats involved re- certification, i have a surf 86 2.4 turbo diesel. I use it every day for work but i'm sick of waiting for big gaps in traffic at busy intersections. I have done a few major motor swaps over the years, as well as all my own repairs and maintenance on this and my last 4x4 and i'm thinkin that i may as well do something with this slug while the engine may still be worth something.

go the supra conversion just find an old toyota supra or celica with a 2.8 lt twin cam and your in . you need a complete car ie. engine loom + ecm and fuel pump best you talk to suprasurf as he has done a lot of these as this is where i get all my info from . good luck

[quote]supras or celicas both come with 2.0 ltr or 2.8 ltr engines so check which one you get as the single cam 2.0 ltr still goes ok . you will need to body lift if the surf is independent as i have found it alot easier to do . i have done 8 conversions with 5 being road legal and certed . no cutting or alterations are needed.

hey dj we should never forget that nothing is ever straight forward , so i guess i never give away all the secrets , as i have done a few and each has its subtle differences as you have found .next one is only a two wheel drive this weekend or the next .
