2.4TD Hilux Surf, head cracking problem

Does anyone know how to prevent the head from cracking in a 91 2.4 Turbo Diesel Hilux Surf??

Put a larger zaust on it, chnge the thermostat, keep anti freeze in teh cooling system

is that from the engine to the turbo or just from the turbo down? what would be a good thermostat for it?

my brother has a '90 surf 2.4 td bought at 65000 kms put a 2.5" exhaust on it, mandrel bends with custom flange from back of turbo, recored radiator, always had regular coolant changes as well as oil/filter and air filter changes, now has done 230000 kms , has had no eng probs whatsoever
